an island nation in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, checks in at No. 36 on our list, but it is certainly no thanks to its $24.5 billion GDP that ranks No. 112 in the world. Where Cyprus excels is its $45,705 average income that ranks No. 20 and its No. 28 ranking in the SPI. The latter is due to the country’s access to clean water and sanitation (though it has struggled with water shortages in the past), access to basic medical care and personal rights. This score would be better had it not been for its 53.27 points in access to advanced education.
