Nollywood Actors Who Lost Their Legs

A good health is really underrated in this world that we live in. We just want to make money forgetting that our health is also important to us. 

The unfortunate circumstances of life have ensured that these popular Nollywood stars have had their leg amputated, a situation they have to bear for the rest of their lives.

In the Nigerian movie industry, none of the Nollywood stars in this list were born disabled, something tragic happened to them which led to the amputation of their legs.

Obviously, being handicapped is not something a renowned person will welcome but sadly that’s the fate of these three Nigerian actors.

1. Doris Samuel Akonanya


She is a super talented actress who lost her leg in a ghastly car accident that should have claim her life. Doris Samuel Akonanya had one of her legs taken off after she was involved in an accident she at the age of thirteen (13). She was reportedly knocked down by a motorcyclist and to save her life, doctors had no option than to amputate her.

However, she defied all odds as she studied Theatre Arts at the University of Nnamdi Azikiwe(UNIZIK) and despite being discouraged by her peers, she is set to take Nollywood by storm. She is noted for the role she played in a movie dubbed Susanna in 2015. She later produced her own movie inn 2017 and it was titled, LIMITLESS.

2. Tunde Alabi


ONE of the legs of ailing veteran Nollywood actor of Village Headmaster fame, Tunde Alabi, who has been battling complications from diabetes at the Lagos General Hospital, was amputated four years ago.

There were several efforts to avert the amputation, but all failed as they seemed to have come too late. According to the veteran actor’s colleague, Paul Julius, who is at present solely taking care of him, the actor had no home to go back to after the surgery.

According to him, “as I speak with you, the amputated leg has just been taken to the mortuary. But our major concern right now is where he will return to as his home. “Right now, he has no family, no friend that can take him in. He is homeless. Our effort to reach the governor of Lagos State, his home state, has only proven partially successful as nothing definitive has come out of it. “The governor knows Uncle Tunde and will be willing to help but, bureaucratic bottlenecks have not helped matters.”

Tunde Alabi has been on the acting scene since the glorious days of television drama in Nigeria and he is today one of the last of the role interpreters in The Village Headmaster, a television drama that was the in-thing in its days on National Television Authority.

3. Pete Eneh

Few weeks after Pete Eneh, lost one of his legs to amputation over an infection on the leg.
Before the leg was amputated, the actor had reportedly been on the sick bed for some months without proper medical attention given to him due to what was reported to be inadequate fund made available for his treatment.

So, when doctors at Park Lane Hospital, Enugu disclosed that the leg would have to be amputated so as to prevent the infection spreading to other parts of his body, the news generated some dust. Eventually, the actor’s leg was amputated to save Pete Eneh’s life.

The actor finally gave up the ghost barely a month after the amputation. According to a source, Pete Eneh may have died due to the pain of living with an amputated leg for the rest of his life. The source divulged that the psychological pain may have contributed to his death.
